Two nights ago, Eason Chan, Joey Yung, Gigi Leung, Kathy Chow & Vivian Chow flew to Beijing to attend the ‘2009 Entertainment Grand Ceremony’. At the event, Eason and Gigi won the ‘Hong Kong & Taiwanese Male & Female’ award, while Joey won the ‘2009 Splendid Music Person’ award.
While Eason was on stage to pick up the male singer award, he expressed that he was grateful to his fans for their support, and he will definitely continue to work hard to earn the cheers from his fans. Gigi’s female singer award was handed to her by the two award-winning actors Nick Cheung and Huang Bo, and she expressed that she was very happy to receive this award. Since it was over 3 years before she had released last year’s Mandarin album called ‘Gift’, Gigi felt that the popularity of the album gave her the encouragement to continue to write more good music.
A funny incident that happened was when Nick saw Gigi coming on stage, he started to jump up and he joked: “The female artiste I would least like to meet is Gigi because she’s too tall.” This made Gigi and Huang Bo look a bit embarrassed.
Vivian Lai also received the ‘2009 Charitable Person’ award, and she said: “I am really enjoying my current ordinary lifestyle, so I will only participate in fundraising events. Even though I’m not a full-time artiste, I still hope that I can influence more people to be aware of helping out the community.” At the end of the awards ceremony, the organisers arranged for all the award winners to go on stage to send their best wishes to the Quinghai disaster victims. Everyone on stage also had a green ribbon tied around their hands to symbolise the sending of their blessings.
